# How-To Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together on medium-high speed for 3 to 4 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Add flour mixture to butter mixture in three additions, alternating with milk and beginning and ending with flour. Mix on low speed until just combined.
- Divide batter evenly between the three prepared pans.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
- Beat butter on high speed for 2 to 3 minutes until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar on low speed. Add vanilla and milk, then beat on high for 3 minutes until fluffy.
- Divide buttercream into four bowls. Leave one white and tint the other three with increasing amounts of pink gel coloring to create dark pink, medium pink, and light pink shades.
- Place the first cake layer on serving plate. Spread darkest pink buttercream on top. Add second layer and spread medium pink buttercream. Add final layer and spread light pink buttercream on top. Cover sides with remaining white buttercream.
- Smooth buttercream with an offset spatula. Optionally use a bench scraper to blend the ombre effect up the sides.
- Decorate with edible flowers and optional flower toppers. Chill cake for 30 minutes before slicing for cleaner cuts.
